Senior Trainer / Cabin Crew
I have been with Jet2.com since March 2002, and my role as Senior Trainer is completely varied. I work and train with a variety of people including the cabin crew, pilots, the cabin services department and the in-flight retail department to name but a few.
As cabin crew on board, the role is essentially to ensure the safety of passengers, crew and the aircraft. In addition to this, food and drink are served, tax/duty free goods offered, and it is our job to ensure the sircraft remains immaculate whilst in service.
Some people say that cabin crew is a glamorous job, and to some extent it is, visiting different countries each day and ensuring we take pride in our appearance but essentially it is a very sociable vocation - sometimes meeting over 450 passengers a day!.
We welcome business folk, holiday makers, city breakers, children and babies each one with different needs and a different story to tell. However there is also a lot that the passengers don't see.
Prior to each flight, cabin crew undergo checks on their safety and first aid knowledge to ensure it is kept fresh in the mind in the event of an emergency or first aid situation, dealt with appropriately. Cabin crew are responsible for cleaning the entire aircraft which includes collecting rubbish, newspapers, vacuuming the floor and ensuring the toilets are fresh for each flight.
As senior trainer, I train the new cabin crew in all aspects of safety onboard our aircraft, as well as the annual training of cabin crew and pilots. In addition all trainers specialise in a certain area.
Jet2.com is a fast moving company and I love the fact that no 2 days are the same. One day I could be training at Leeds, the next in Tenerife and the next I could be recruiting in Blackpool. Jet2.com is a great company to work for, and with the current rate of expansion who knows where I will be training or flying to next.
